CAIRO, Jan 31 (PRIME) -- Russia raised grain exports to Egypt 44% on the year to 5.2 million tonnes in January-November 2016, head of the Russian trade mission Fyodor Lukashin told PRIME on Tuesday.
Grain is Russia’s main export commodity to Egypt, accounting for 28% of the sales. A further rise in exports is expected in 2017, the official said.
The head of the mission said a large 18,000 tonnes grain shipment from Russia was seized in the Egyptian port of Alexandria last year, but the issue has already been settled.
